Beaucarnea symbolises unbending strength
A Beaucarnea is a forceful and strong plant, demonstrating that ‘what you see is what you get’. It is a staunch toughie that you can rely on and trust and is one of the real stalwarts of the plant kingdom. It asks a little, but gives a lot, reason enough to crown this characteristic plant with its broad base and the striking head of long, curly leaves as the Houseplant of the Month for January.

Slowly, but surely and perseveringly, the Beaucarnea grows and grows. This imperturbable plant lets nothing upset it and is one of the main reasons why a Beaucarnea is often given as a gift to first-year students or to people moving to a new home because it is a symbol of unbending strength and can take being knocked.

Louis Kester heeft jaren aan het roer gestaan van deze onderneming en dit nu overgedragen aan Evert Thielen van Westland Bloemen Export. In goed overleg en harmonie is besloten om afscheid van elkaar te nemen. Javado bedankt Louis voor zijn enorme inzet voor Javado en wenst hem veel succes in zijn verdere carrière.

Spring colour from a bulb

In the middle of winter, the Hyacinth will already give you that feeling of spring - which is what the plant represents. Even if its hailing outside, its cheerful colours, proud floral magnificence and fresh scent mean the sun will always be shining indoors. It's not without reason that the Dutch bulb has Mediterranean roots. The Hyacinth is for sale in all different colours – purple, pink, blue, white, yellow and orange – and it looks especially nice if it's showcased alongside a few of its proud fellow chums.

Yesterday evening the "Graines d'Or Awards” for most innovative garden centers in Europe took place. In the Lido in Paris Erwin Meier-Honegger received from Valerie Langedorff the prestigious Trophy. The 600 colleagues from other garden centers where applauding.

The 2nd  place in this international competition was won by “Les jardins de la ferme’ (compagnons des saisons) from France, Florina from Belgium came in 3rd.
